Magic Motorsport Flex adds Bosch MG1CS111 TC298 Bench unlock
Protocol update: 20 August 2026
Magic Motorsport has released Flex version 8.13.0.0, introducing Boot Glitch unlocking for Bosch MG1CS111 engine control units equipped with the TriCore TC298 processor.
The update covers selected Volkswagen Group applications and allows supported ECUs to be unlocked in the workshop without sending them away for the previous Ready for Tuning (RFT) service.
Programming capabilities
Following the Boot Glitch unlock, Flex supports Bench programming with:
- Internal Flash read, write and checksum correction
- Internal EEPROM read and write
- Full backup
- Boot unlock
The protocol requires a Flex Full Master or Full Slave licence.
Example vehicle applications
Magic Motorsport lists selected 2.0 TSI applications, including the Audi A3, Cupra Formentor, Škoda Octavia, Volkswagen Arteon and Volkswagen T-Roc.
Important: This release specifically concerns the Bosch MG1CS111 with the TC298 processor. The ECU name alone is not sufficient to confirm compatibility.
What this means for vehicle owners
For supported vehicles, the ECU can be unlocked and programmed in the workshop without the previous external unlocking service.
The ECU hardware and available programming method must be confirmed before work begins.

AutoTuner adds direct Bench access for BMW DDE8 and DME8 ECUs
Protocol update: August 2026
AutoTuner has introduced direct Bench read and write support for selected Bosch DDE8 and DME8 engine control units used in BMW Group vehicles.
The update removes the previous requirement to send supported ECUs away for unlocking before Bench programming.
Supported ECU variants
- Bosch MD1CP032 – TC299
- Bosch MD1CS001 – TC298
- Bosch MG1CS024 – TC298
- Bosch MG1CS049 – TC298
- Bosch MG1CS201 – TC298
The release covers selected applications across BMW, Mini, Alpina, Toyota and Morgan.
What has changed?
Supported ECUs can now be accessed directly in Bench mode using AutoTuner, without the previous mail-in unlock procedure.
Following the required preparation, the ECU can also be patched to enable subsequent OBD flashing.
This does not mean that every BMW manufactured after 2020 is supported. The exact ECU variant and available programming method must be confirmed before work begins.
What this means for vehicle owners
For supported vehicles, ECU programming and bespoke calibration can now be carried out without sending the control unit away for the previous unlocking procedure.

Alientech KESS3 adds OBD support for Continental UTCU4 gearboxes
Protocol update: 21 August 2026
Alientech has introduced OBD programming support for Continental UTCU4 transmission control units with KESS3 Upgrade 3.45. The protocol is also available through Powergate.
Supported transmissions
The release covers the following automatic transmission families:
- SelectShift 8FXX
- SelectShift 10R80
- TorqShift 10R140
These transmissions are fitted to selected Ford, Lincoln and Volkswagen vehicles, including applications of the Ford Ranger, Transit, Mustang and F-Series, Lincoln Navigator and Volkswagen Amarok.
What has changed?
The new protocol provides access to supported UTCU4 transmission calibrations through the vehicle's diagnostic port.
This is a TCU programming update, not an engine ECU protocol. It expands the available methods for gearbox calibration on supported vehicles.
Vehicle compatibility
The announcement covers selected applications from 2017 onwards. Support must be checked against the individual vehicle, transmission and control unit before programming.

Alientech KESS3 adds Bosch VD1CP110 support
Protocol update: 24 August 2026
Alientech has introduced Bosch VD1CP110 support in KESS3 Upgrade 3.46, expanding programming coverage for selected Ford and Volkswagen commercial vehicles.
Supported applications
The release lists applications from 2023 onwards, including:
- Ford Ranger 2.0 EcoBlue
- Ford Transit 2.0 EcoBlue
- Volkswagen Amarok 2.0 EcoBlue
What does the new protocol support?
The update provides OBD access to the Bosch VD1CP110 UDM, an aftertreatment control unit.
This is an aftertreatment control-unit protocol, not an engine ECU tuning protocol. It must not be confused with support for reading or writing the vehicle's engine ECU.
Bench, Boot, virtual-read and unlock capabilities were not specified in the release information available to us.
Vehicle compatibility
Compatibility must be confirmed against the individual vehicle and control unit before programming.
